Canada Post wished to celebrate the Lunar New Year by launching a series of stamps dedicated to the year of the Horse. The 12-year-old series is in its sixth edition and is one of the most appreciated of Canada Post’s commemorative postage stamp program. Paprika hoped to keep the public’s passion alive by creating a series that would be up to the precedent editions. In keeping with the great Chinese tradition, we proposed dynamic horses in red and gold to evoke the vigor, strength, and grace specific to horses. The embossing technique gave the horses an additional dimension. For the domestic rate stamp, the animals are presented in motion, their mane and tail connected when they are lined up next to each other. The philatelists loved it!
