The Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal seeks to promote Quebec contemporary art and keep it alive. Thanks to its acquisitions, exhibitions, and various cultural activities, this institution also contributes to ensuring an international contemporary art presence in Quebec’s cultural landscape.
In 2009, the Museum appealed to Paprika to design the promotional material surrounding the exhibition dedicated to Claude Tousignant, a Quebec artist whose avant-garde paintings are known worldwide for their aesthetics and pure lines. To achieve this mandate, we also drew inspiration from his famous painting Accélérateur chromatique. On the invitation card, we reproduced concentric stripes in alternate colors so as to recreate this famous work. We also created a geometrical font which is consistent with the massive and fine shapes of the painter’s canvasses.
