During the renovation works of the Museum of Fine Arts of Montreal, Paprika installed temporary signage entitled “The Museum gets bigger” to conceal the occasional indoor and outdoor inconvenience caused by those major works. By adopting the institutional yellow colour as a sort of visual medium, we made great fences in which three visual concepts matched with each other to create a playful and original environment. We first tempered the MBAM logo by rebuilding it with the help of construction site tape. Moreover, we typographically exploited the onomatopoeia associated with the common noise around renovation works. Finally, we took pleasure in integrating renovation-related elements to the works such as paint cans, safety helmets, and various tools. The installation seems to have pleased the passers-by. Some of them even claimed ownership of a few reproductions!
