In addition to collections, temporary exhibitions, and museum activities for everyone, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts brings forth the Lab Design. The space’s mission is to promote Québécois and Canadian contemporary creation.
In 2013, the Museum appointed Paprika to invest this unique space with an installation of our choice. Inspired by the room’s fenestration and its view over the adjacent patio, we built shopping carts to give the impression that they had cut through the large bay window. To make reference to a diction exercise and the adverts often found on such carriage, the words “piano” and “basket” were alternatively written on the carts’ handles.
