Thanks to an extensive catalogue of travel, evasion, and discovery literature, the publishing house Noir sur Blanc’s mission is to build bridges between Europe’s cultures and peoples. To promote its new collection of novels, Notabilia, Noir sur Blanc appealed to Paprika’s creativity.
We wanted to create a strong visual identity that would tie the novels together and have an impact in bookstores. To achieve this, we chose a simple cream, black, and lightly red color palette. Visual metaphors composed of various symbols provide hints on the novels’ content. Each illustration unveils a key element of the story which appears on the book’s back. Just like the introduction’s surprising red flyleaves, a simple but powerful typography unites the collection. As for the collection’s signature, we subtly altered the font to suggest books on shelves.
